Sandsend near WhitbyLocated just a few minutes drive north along the coastline from Whitby, Sandsend is the point where the Whitby sands end, it is best described as a seaside village.  This attractive settlement is situated three miles north of Whitby and enjoys coastal scenery among a wealth of greenery.  This quiet village has several teashops, a restaurant, two pubs and a shop and Post Office.  Wooded glens and twisting paths surround the houses which stand protected from the sea by a sea wall.

Sandsend boasts some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the area with fossil-rich rock pools set in a very pretty environment.  This makes the walk to Whitby from Sandsend a popular attraction.

Close to Sandsend is Mulgrave Castle a notable monument surrounded by trees, lying only a short distance inland.  The castle should be approached by East Row Drive where there is a car park.
